Now You See It, Now You Don't

Before applying for scholarships I knew little about laser tattoo removal. Of course I’d heard of it and understood it was a good way to remove that “I was in Mexico on spring break” tattoo; but what I didn’t know was how it worked and how well. After learning about the New Look Laser Tattoo Removal scholarship (www.NewLookHouston.com) I did a little research. I started by watching a video of a tattoo removal. I was absolutely stunned: a clicking noise, some light, and the tattoo all but vanished. I was immediately intrigued and wanted to know how it worked. So I Googled it, always the best way to go. I discovered that it is all really quite simple. Essentially the lasers work by producing short pulses of intense light that pass harmlessly through the top layers of the skin to be selectively absorbed by the tattoo pigment. The light energy breaks up the tattoo ink and the immune system carries it away. In truth, I’m quite happy about it’s easiness. Now I know if I ever get a butterfly tattooed across my lower back or a heart on my ankle I needn’t worry. Thank goodness for tattoo removal lasers.
